I've been working on a report concerning the sheep and goat sector across the EU and last week it passed easily in the Agriculture committee. The UK is the EU’s largest producer of sheep meat with almost 40% of the EU’s farms and we currently export 40% of our lamb to the EU.
On Saturday I attended the Yorkshire and Humber Conservative Policy Forum, where I was part of a panel discussion on the Northern Powerhouse alongside Stuart Andrew MP and Andrea Jenkyns MP. The panel was chaired by Lord Kirkhope.
This week has been full of bad news for British farmers. On November 9th a committee of experts from EU Member States failed to reach a qualified majority on the decision as to whether to renew the licence on glyphosate, the controversial herbicide.
