About John Procter

John Procter became a Conservative Party Member of the European Parliament in November 2016, replacing Lord Kirkhope who had represented the region since 1999.

His involvement in the Conservative Party stretches back 30 years, having served as Young Conservatives Area Chairman, Constituency Chairman and Area Officer.

John has been a Leeds City Councillor since 1990. From 2004-2010, John served as Chief Whip of the Council.

He stood in Barnsley East (1992) and Pudsey (2001) General Elections. 

In the European Parliament, John sits on the agriculture and culture committees and meets with representatives from organisations of interest to his constituents.

Aside from politics, John is a Director of a long-standing Yorkshire business. He is married with two children.
